Introducing Dapper

Dapper is a lightweight macOS menu bar app that syncs podcast episodes to your digital audio player. If you still carry a DAP — an iPod, a Rockbox device, or anything else that mounts as a volume — Dapper is built for you.

I built Dapper because I wanted to listen to podcasts on my iPod and there was no good way to get them there without a cloud service, a third-party app subscription, or a manual drag-and-drop ritual.

Dapper solves this simply: subscribe to any RSS feed, connect your DAP, press ⌘S. That’s it.

How it works

Dapper lives in your Mac’s menu bar. It checks your subscribed feeds every 20 minutes and downloads new episodes in the background. When you’re ready to sync, hit ⌘S — or click Sync in the menu — and Dapper copies everything to your connected device, organized into per-show folders.

No dock icon. No main window cluttering your desktop. No accounts or cloud required.
